Event Details
The Studios of Cocoa Beach is hosting a class with Glaucia Romano, “ Basic Needle Felting: Working with Wool” on Saturday October 8 from 3 to 5 pm. Learn to create beautiful two and three dimensional artwork in this class that covers the basics of felting.
Felting is an ancient textile technique that has been around since at least 6500 BCE! Felt is a non-woven fabric made of wool or animal fur. There are different ways to create felt: one is with soap and water, and another is with a felting needle. Regardless of the process, the action of felting binds fibers together creating a permanent bond, and making the felting process irreversible.
In this two-hour class where we will explore and experiment with needle felting . If you have never tried needle-felting, it can be quite a calming, enjoyable, and meditative process despite its repetitive motions. All materials will be provided.
Glaucia has a Masters degree in Art Education and is a certified Art Educator in the state of Florida. She has taught art classes for at least 15 years in the public and private sector, mostly to kids, but also to adults. She has a wide knowledge of a variety of media and processes and can't wait to share them with you!
Fee for the class is $65. Register at the Studios website: www.studiosofcocoabeach.org. Registration by October 1 is requested to ensure that sufficient materials are ordered.
