Pottery Classes at Studios of Cocoa Beach

Whether you have always wanted to learn to make pottery, or you need a refresher course, this series of classes is for you. The Studios of Cocoa Beach, 159 Minutemen Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach, offers six classes , on Saturdays, beginning August 27, from 3 to 5 pm. The instructor is Glaucia Romano

The first class on August 27 starts with Pinch Pots, an easy technique that introduces you to preparing and working with clay. On September 3 the class will focus on using clay coils to make pots, trays and decorative items. The September 10 class will cover working with flat slabs to create boxes, cut out shapes and sculptural items. September 17 will cover Glazing. September 24 and October 1 are Open Clay Studios Days.

The series covers several ways of handbuilding with clay. Students can create whatever they wish with these techniques. Glaucia will also have resources and suggestions for projects . Children age 5 and up and families are welcome to join and share their supply of clay.

Glaucia Romano has been teaching art for over 15 years in public schools as well as private classes for children and adults. She has a Masters in Art Education and a passion for teaching and creating art in all forms.

Fee for each session is $40 plus $10 supply fee for clay and gazes. If only attending one day, students should plan to return a week later to pick up fired pieces. If you want the piece to be glazed, plan to also attend the Glazing class.
