Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the minimum age for hatchet throwing?

A: The minimum age requirement for hatchet and axe throwing at Stumpy’s Hatchet House Cocoa is 18, with the exception of our family-friendly hours: 2-6pm on Saturdays and 1-6pm on Sundays. Not sure if your youngster can throw? We understand that kids come in all shapes and sizes. We’ve had as young as 8-years old throw and stick the hatchet. If you’re not sure, we can do an evaluation prior to checking in and signing waivers.

Q: Do you sell food & drinks at Stumpy's?

A: We do have a bar that serves beer, wine, ciders, hard seltzers, and non-alcoholic drinks. We don’t serve food, but you’re welcome to bring food in! Or, have food delivered from our Cocoa Village restaurants REC225 or the Village Biergarten…they’ll deliver right to your pit!

Q: Do you take walk-ins or do I need a reservation?

A: Though we will try to accommodate walk-ins whenever possible, it is not something we recommend. We’d hate for you to drive here just to be turned away! Due to the popularity of our hatchet and axe throwing bars, we are normally pretty booked with reservations, especially on the weekends! Our reservation system lists all available times for each day. If no times are listed, we will not have space for you on that date. (Sorry!) However, if we do have slots of open availability, we’d be happy to bring you in! If you call ahead of time, we can let you know if we can accommodate your group.

Q: Can people just come watch if they don't want to throw?

A: Of course! Non-throwers are allowed to come join the social throwdown, though we will ask them to pay $15 plus tax. Why do we charge if you’re not throwing? Well, whenever someone leaves the front of the house and goes to the back of the house, we take on a little liability. We hope you understand!

Q: What should I wear?

A: Be comfortable — it’s a sporting event after all! Please dress in loose, cool clothing when the weather is warm (which is 99% of the time here in Florida!). For safety purposes, no open-toe shoes or sandals. SANDALS OR FLIP FLOPS ARE NOT PERMITTED. If you forget, don’t sweat it…we do have shoes for sale!

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Reservations are made in 1-hour, 1.5 hour and 2-hour time slots. Pricing is $25 per person for 1 hour, $35 per person for 1.5 hour, and $40 per person for 2 hours. For those who want to be part of the fun, but are unable to throw hatchets, the non-thrower fee is $15 plus tax. Why do we charge if you’re not throwing? Well, any time someone leaves the front of the house and goes to the back of the house, we take on a little liability. We hope you understand!

Q: Where do I park?

A: Parking is available on the street in Cocoa Village and nearby public lots (there’s one right across the street next to REC225).
