Benjamin Michael Swanson, age 36, passed away at his home in Titusville, FL on December the 27th of 2015. Ben was born in Port Jefferson, Long Island on November 14th 1979 to Guy and Brenda Swanson. In 1987, his family relocated to Merritt Island, FL where he was raised. He attended Lewis Carroll Elementary school. He played little league baseball from elementary school into junior high school at Edgewood Junior High. He was also an All-American wrestler for Merritt Island High school where he graduated in 1998. Ben went on to attend the University of South Florida and was a member of the fraternity Beta Theta Pi. He married his beloved wife on May 30, 2009. Ben was always active and involved in and around his community, and on September 23, 2013 he was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason at Gateway Lodge 384. He enjoyed restoring a 1965 mustang with his father and brothers and was very involved in running obstacle courses and endurance races. Ben traveled abroad extensively with his wife and visited Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the Caribbean where he would pursue activities such as scuba diving, hiking, and sky diving.
Ben was an individual that held the relationships he had with friends and family in very high regard and would always make time for those he loved. Ben is survived by his wife, Jessica (Reinhold) Swanson, his parents Guy and Brenda Swanson, two brothers Gene and Chris Swanson, nieces and nephews Sydney, Kevin, Stella, Ashton, Remi, and Angeleah Swanson, grandmother Margret Casale, as well as his faithful companion Ruger (weimaraner).
Benjamin was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in October 2014. This disease required blood transfusions, chemo, and a bone marrow transplant. The family encourages the donation of blood and enrollment as a bone marrow donor in his honor. For information on how to become a bone marrow donor please visit BeTheMatch.com
