Event Details
The Space Coast Weavers and fiber artists will meet on Saturday, September 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Merritt Island Public Library., 1195 N. Courtenay Parkway. Following a business meeting and member show and tell, Judy Schwab will present a program on “Winging It: Creating Without a Net.”
Judith is a multi-talented artist who was trained in metal smithing and jewelry making and has turned to the fiber arts as well as mixed media. This workshop will address what every artist faces when they just can't seem to get started on their next project. Whether you are in your studio and creating every day, or find a forgotten creation that you put aside and now have dusted off, it's always a good idea to have a practice warm up to get your creative juices flowing. No judging. No competition. No right or wrong. No worries, and actual fun!
Judy will be bringing all sorts of interesting materials for you to experiment with as well as a lifetime of creative starters. Please bring scissors, white glue or glue sticks, a needle and thread, and whatever markers, pencils, pens you may like. There is a $5 supply fee.
Since 1983 SCW&FA has been Brevard’s go-to guild for fiber arts: spinning, weaving, basketry, rug hooking, and more. The guild helps fiberartists, beginning or advanced, learn through workshops and the informal exchange of ideas. They also work to educate the public about the fiber arts. For more information, call Jeanie McCormack at 321-266-1610.
