NFPA’s Alternative Fuel Vehicle Safety Training Course - Tow Operators

Tow Operator Edition. This course was created to provide guidance on how to safely deal with emergency situations involving alternative fuel passenger vehicles, trucks, buses, and commercial fleet vehicles.The recently revised training now covers electric, hybrid, fuel cell, and gaseous fuel vehicles, including CNG, LNG, and LPG. The program is FREE for a total of 50 participants. The following topics will be covered:

Introduction to AFVs
High Voltage & Gaseous Fuel System Properties
Scene Size-up & Response Types
Recovery & Towing Operations
Special Considerations for - Submerged Vehicles; AFV Fires; Damaged High Voltage Components; and, Damaged Gaseous Fuel Systems
Vehicle Loading & Transporting
Vehicle Storage
Field Evolutions — including actual AFVs
