Moviegoers who were once willing enough to forgive Jackson for some of the drastic changes and cuts (alas, poor Tom Bombadil!) in his Lord of the Rings trilogy feel a lot different about his decision to transform a two hundred and fiftyish page children’s novel into a seven-and-a-half-hour trilogy. While these three movies may not have been as carefully planned as The Lord of the Rings films (2001-2003), a lot of the scenes are filmed very well, and Jackson provides some important background information that a casual viewer might otherwise miss. In this presentation, short clips will be shown from each of the three films as we follow our companions on their journey there and back again through Middle Earth.
