Start 2020 with Florida's most magical celebration of all times-The Florida Magician of the Year (FL-MOTY) Contest. This magical performance will highlight Florida's most talented magicians. The contest will be held at the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse on Sunday, January 12, 2020. Magicians from across the state of Florida will compete for the coveted title of Florida Magician of the Year. Magic Dove Magic Shop in partnership with the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse is excited to be part of this magical celebration of Florida magicians. This annual event brings amateur and professional magicians of all ages together for one unforgettable magical performance. The contest is open to all Florida magicians from across the entire state, however, only the finalists will make it to the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse stage. Florida champions of magic come together for a friendly battle to earn the prestigious title of Florida Magician of the Year. The Florida Magician of the Year Contest is designed to preserve and promote the art of magic by highlighting magical talents performed by Florida magicians. Three titles are awarded each year starting with the junior division for ages 7-11, which awards the title -- Junior Florida Magician of the Year. The youth division covers ages 12-17, which leads to the title-- Youth Florida Magician of the Year. The adult division leads to the title of Florida Magician of the Year.
The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse is the magical venue for the live performance of the final contest. The theater originally opened on August 18, 1924 as a silent movie house. On October 17, 1991, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. This state of the art historic theater provides an impressive setting to showcase magical talents. The theater is located at 300 Brevard Avenue in Historic Cocoa Village, Florida and seats approximately 600. The theater is truly a magical place and serves as the perfect location for the Florida Magician of the Year Contest.
