Event Details
Looking for a fun way to entertain the kids during Winter Break? The Studios of Cocoa Beach is hosting an “Art and Yoga Camp” with Glaucia Romano from 9 am to noon the week of December 26 to 30, 2022.
Each day will start with a yoga lesson where kids will learn basic yoga poses, breathing techniques, and mindful meditation. Glaucia follows the KAY method of yoga, which incorporates music, dance, story-telling, and games to make it appeal to the little ones.
Then, we will create artwork inspired by the season using different media and open-ended themes. The art-making focuses on process over product, so students learn not only artistic skills but important traits such as perseverance, curiosity, creativity, and how to deal with frustrations.
Glaucia has been teaching art for over 15 years. She worked in public schools for 10 years at the elementary and middle school levels and has a Masters in Art Education. She is also a registered yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance and specializes in yoga for children and PTSD.
Fee for the week of camp is $120. Campers should bring a water bottle and a snack and a yoga mat if they have one. Register at the Studios website, www.studiosofcocoabeach.org. The Studios’ workshop room is behind the gallery at 159 Minutemen Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach. Their gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday 9 am to 7 pm and Sundays 10 am to 3 pm. For more information on the gallery, artist profiles, and upcoming classes visit the website or follow the Studios on Facebook and Instagram.
