Event Details

The Studios of Cocoa Beach introduces its September Artist of the Month, Jaymee Paddock Weinreich. Jaymee is a talented, award winning artist as well as an outstanding arts educator. Her colorful oil and acrylic paintings often have tropical themes reflecting the time she spent in Puerto Rico. She also works in pencil and pastels, makes jewelry, has illustrated several books, and teaches at the Studios. A six week Acrylic class begins October 9. She also offers fun Sip ‘n Paint sessions ( October 4 and 18) where non-artists socialize and create a painting under her excellent guidance.

Jaymee came to Cocoa Beach in 1956 when her father began working on space guidance systems and her mother taught at Freedom 7, Roosevelt Jr High and Cocoa Beach High. Jaymee graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida International University and later moved to Puerto Rico where she taught and then became a full time artist Paintings, murals, custom signs, and commercial designs, including some 3-sculpture; were created in her studio located in the rainforest mountains of Ceiba, in Eastern Puerto Rico. While there, she wrote an arts column for El Playero, a Brevard County Hispanic newspaper. She created art for tourists visiting the El Yunque National Rainforest, owned a gallery and was a member of several other galleries.

In September 2014, Weinreich returned to Florida to reconnect to her childhood
home and continue her journey as an artist and a promoter of art in general. She was a member of the Art Gallery of Viera until 2016 when she became one of the founding members of the Studios of Cocoa Beach. She is a Board member and curates their bi-monthly exhibits as well as teaching. When not working at the Studios she explores jewelry techniques, illustrates books and does commission such as a recent mother-daughter mermaid painting. When asked, “What next?” She exclaims, “ All I can do is keep creating. It is what I like to do and what I have worked on for so long. It is about passion and dedication.”

A limited edition giclee print of Jaymee’s painting “Leatherbacks” will be the prize in the Studios monthly giveaway. To enter this free drawing, visit the Studios any day in September. Her work can be v
