Description
Even if you have dyed before, you'll be amazed at the results from the Redding Method. Learn to dye wool easily and produce brilliant colors
Event Details
The Studios of Cocoa Beach is hosting a dyeing workshop” The Redding Method – What you never knew about Dyeing Wool!” with Lois Ann Mittleman on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 10am to 4pm. This protein -fiber dyeing method is based on science and art and allows you to produce bright, intensive, consistent colors on wool. Even if you have dyed before you will appreciate this new approach which is less about measuring and chemistry and more about matching the dye to the fiber..
The class will be taught by Lois Ann Mittleman an experienced fiber artist and instructor. Since the 1980’s, Lois has explored weaving, basketmaking, jewelry design, spinning and knitting. She is a Redding Method Master Dyer and a Certified Redding Method Teacher.
Students will dye their own pot of raw wool. After a morning lesson and demo, the students will spend the afternoon dyeing their own pot of raw wool. The dyed wool is suitable for many fiber projects including spinning and felting.
Students need to bring a a 12 to 20 quart stock pot, paper and pencil, and lunch. Cost of the class is $125 plus $45 for materials. Call Lois Ann to register at 321-795-0509. Fees are due prior to the class.
The class will be taught at the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach. The Studios is a non-profit cooperative gallery featuring the work of 30 local artists and offering a variety of workshops. The Studio is open Monday and Tuesday 10:30 am to 3:30 pm, Wednesday through Saturday 10:30 am-8pm and Sunday 11 am-4 pm.
